Multi-Process Welders by Output

Machines that combine MIG, flux-core, stick and often TIG, ordered by maker-stated top output, highest first.

By Arcuracy Editorial · Updated October 2026

A multi-process welder puts several processes in one inverter, which suits a home shop that wants to MIG, stick and try TIG without three machines. These are ordered by the maker's top output, highest first.

Read the process list closely: TIG on most multi-process machines is DC lift-arc (no aluminium), and the TIG torch or spool gun is often sold separately. Each note quotes the maker's process list.

Most multi-process machines are inverters, light enough to carry, and many run on both 120 and 240 volts.

Picking between them

List the processes you'll really use, then confirm each is in the maker's list with the torch or gun included. Check input voltage and output on each input, and duty cycle at your amps.

If TIG on aluminium matters, look for AC TIG or a supported spool gun; DC lift-arc TIG won't do it.

When another list fits better

If you'll only ever MIG, a dedicated MIG welder may give more for the money.

Questions welders ask

Are multi-process welders good for beginners?
They let you learn several processes on one machine; MIG is usually the easiest to start with.
Can a multi-process welder do aluminium?
Only with AC TIG or a spool gun the maker supports; check the process list.
Is the TIG torch included?
Often not; the note and product page list what the maker includes.
What's the easiest process to start on?
MIG, for most people.
