Welding Gear and Consumables
The gear around the machine: wire, rods, tungsten, gloves, carts, tables, magnets, regulators, guns, torches and plasma consumables.
Match consumables to the machine and the job. Miller's MIG table pairs wire size with current: .023 inch for 30 to 130 amps, .030 for 40 to 145, .035 for 50 to 180, .045 for 75 to 250. Electrode packaging states each rod's current range.
Gloves, jackets and blankets protect against spatter and sparks; OSHA's fire rules call for combustibles to be moved 35 feet away or shielded. A cart keeps machine and bottle together, and a steel table gives a ground and a fireproof surface.
