What it welds

The Everlast CYCLONE 312i MIG Welder is a MIG / gas with a maker-stated output of up to 315 amps on 240-volt input.

Miller's starting rule, 1 amp for each 0.001 inch of steel, puts 315 amps at roughly 5/16 in of steel in one pass; thicker work means bevels and more passes. Run the amperage selector.

Duty cycle, per the maker: 35% at 315 A, 60% at 250 A. A 35% rating at 315 A means roughly 3.5 minutes on and 6.5 to cool at that output. Check it against your work.

It runs solid wire under shielding gas for the cleanest wire-feed welds; most machines like it also run flux-core wire outdoors.

Plan a 240-volt circuit sized as the manual states before it arrives. What input voltage changes.

Use a lens of at least OSHA's minimum shade for the current: shade 10 or darker for typical MIG work here. Shade chart.

Also on the listing: a weight of 67.8 lb.
